Planning submitted for Taunton Town Centre regeneration scheme

Altitude Asset Management are excited to announce that a planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of Crown Walk in the centre of Taunton.

The location of Crown Walk makes it one of the key access points to the High Street and wider Town Centre and the sensitively designed scheme will enhance this route and give fresh impetus to the town centre.

The plans will see the existing High Street frontage retained, with Crown Walk replaced with 720 sq m of new retail and 62 flats on the upper floors. These flats will consist of 22 one bedroom, 34 two bedroom and 6 three bedroom apartments. The walkway from the High Street to the Crescent Car Park will be open to the air and lined by the retail units that have been designed to be attractive to small and independent businesses.

Tom Vantreen, Director at Altitude Asset Management comments “We are delighted to be submitting our plans for Crown Walk, having had detailed conversations about the future of the site with the Council over a number of years. The design has focused on creating a scheme that embraces the historic context of the Town Centre whilst creating high quality retail and residential accommodation. The new open walkway will create a modern and attractive entrance to the Town Centre from one of the major central car parks and will assist, we hope, in the revitalisation to the wider area.”

Tom continues “In such an uncertain time, it’s great to be able to invest in a fantastic town like Taunton. We look forward to delivering a high-quality scheme that will bring people and jobs to bolster the great offering in Taunton town centre.”
