Caddick Construction makes good progress on Furness Peninsula Blue Light Hub

Caddick Construction is making strong progress, under new social distancing construction guidance, with Cumbria County Council’s Furness Peninsula Blue Light Hub project at Ulverston. The Blue Light Hub will provide modern facilities for staff and generate efficiency savings by bringing the emergency services together under one roof. It will also create more opportunities for collaborative working between the emergency services.

Appointed earlier this year to complete the project, the team resumed work seven weeks ago and is set to complete the project in early 2021.

Derek Billows, Contracts Manager at Caddick Construction said: “We are making good progress with the Blue Light Hub and expect to complete early next year.

“The team is delighted to have been appointed on this project. We have recently delivered the adjacent Beehive Business Park and this is a further boost for our new Kendal office following the recently completed Mercedes Dealership in Carlisle and the JLR Dealership in Kendal and, with the ongoing development of Gateway 44 retail park in Carlisle, the future in the area looks good.

“The Blue Light Hub is an exciting project and one which further strengthens our commitment to the Cumbria region and its supply chain. This co-located emergency response center will be an essential base to deliver vital emergency services support for local residents.”

Cllr David Southward, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Property, said: “I’m delighted that work is restarting on this exciting emergency response centre for the Furness Peninsula. The last few months have been a difficult time for us all, so I am pleased that Caddick are now back on site and working hard towards completion in early 2021.”

Cllr Janet Willis, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Fire & Rescue, said: “Our fantastic blue light services already have a very strong working relationship, and this new facility will allow for even closer collaboration between emergency services in the area and provide a new base for more effective and efficient operations across the whole Furness Peninsula.”
