Two more lettings at South Gate House, Cardiff

Property consultancy Knight Frank has secured two more new lettings, and commitment of almost 8,000 sq ft of office space at the South Gate House multi-let office building on Wood Street in Cardiff city centre.

Knight Frank advised the landlord in the transactions.

Existing tenant Rondo Media has taken a new 10 year lease on 6,146 sq ft on the 9th floor of the 13 storey 101,123 sq ft building. The deal saw the company rationalise its space on the 9th floor of the building, taking on a new suite and recommitting to an existing wing.

In addition Transport for Wales has taken an additional lease on 1,554 sq ft of offices on part of the 4th Floor West at £14.95 per sq ft. Transport for Wales already occupies another 8,600 sq ft over the 4th and 5th floors and was advised by Alder King.

Mark Sutton, partner at Knight Frank in Cardiff, said: “South Gate House’s location adjacent to the new BBC headquarters and the HMRC offices makes it an attractive and popular choice for occupiers, with the central rail station only two minutes away and immediate access to city centre amenities providing a major attraction.

“South Gate House offers tenants the opportunity to be in the heart of the action but at very attractive rental levels. With 8,000 sq ft floors and suites from 2,000 sq ft, South Gate House offers smaller tenants the opportunity to locate in the centre of Cardiff’s prime office district.”

Rondo Media is a major UK independent production company. The company was formed in 2008 and has grown to produce content for a wide range of UK and international broadcasters. Rondo is a national company in Wales with offices in Caernarfon, Menai Bridge and Cardiff, producing drama, sport, music, events, factual and entertainment content.

Gareth Williams CEO at Rondo commented: “South Gate House is a great fit for us and we are pleased to have been able to commit our future to the building. The flexibility to grow has suited our business and it’s a great location for our staff.”

Other South Gate House tenants include the British Medical Journal, Capita Business Services, Phoenix Legal, The Food Standards Agency and Lewis Silkin.
