Hampshire Chamber welcomes business lockdown easing

Hampshire Chamber Chief Executive and Executive Chairman Ross McNally

Responding to the Prime Minister’s announcement on the further easing of lockdown restrictions from 4 July 2020, Hampshire Chamber Chief Executive and Executive Chairman Ross McNally said: “We welcome the reopening of culture, tourism and leisure venues, and the relaxation of the two-metre rule.

“While we are still a long way from business as usual, it will mean that more of our members, particularly in the hospitality sector, can start to return to work.

“Social distancing will remain vitally important and businesses will be required to put precautions in place for the safety of their customers and employees.

“Lockdown easing is just one step however. Broader efforts to boost business and consumer confidence, including a mass test and trace system and more fiscal measures, will still be needed to help firms trade their way out of this crisis.

“We will continue to do our best to support our members across Hampshire, working in partnership with local and central government and other organisations, as we look to intensify recovery.”
