Work progressing well on Charterpoint’s Nottinghamshire care home scheme

Work is progressing well on site at a new care home being built by developer Charterpoint in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.

Contractor Lawrence Baker began working on the site in Grantham Road at the start of the year.

A number of measures have been taken to ensure the safety and comfort of those working on the development during the Coronavirus pandemic, including the installation of temporary sleeping, washing and showering accommodation for each bricklayer.

With social distancing guidance being applied on site, the team has made really good progress on the Charterpoint Senior Living development which will be run by care home operator HC-One, said Chief Executive of Nottingham-based Charterpoint, Adrian Goose.

“Ensuring the safety of teams on site is a priority for all those involved in this care home development, and we are pleased to say that work has carried on as normal throughout the past few weeks,” said Adrian. “A number of measures were introduced to enable the bricklayers to observe social distancing and to stay on the site overnight using temporary accommodation, and this has resulted in excellent progress being made on this development.”

Mostly over two storeys, with one section over three storeys, the 70-bed care home is being built on a brownfield site which formerly housed a redundant police station.

It will feature residents’ lounges, a hair/beauty salon, cinema room and other extensive communal facilities, along with residents’ gardens.

Operator HC-One offers professional residential, nursing and memory care for older people in over 300 care homes located across England, Scotland and Wales. The new care home will be the company’s second facility in Bingham. It already runs Beauvale in Moor Lane, Bingham.

The new care home, due to be opened in Summer 2021, is the latest developed by Charterpoint Senior Living, which is based at Wheatcroft Business Park, Edwalton, and which specialises in developing first-class, modern care homes and retirement living accommodation.

Contractor Lawrence Baker, based at Eynsham, Oxfordshire, is a specialist main contractor to the nursing home and associated care sector.

A Fund managed by Alpha Real Capital LLP has acquired the investment from Charterpoint.
